Respaid Integration - Connect Respaid with your Slack account
Last updated October 16, 2024
We’re delighted to announce our partnership with online platform, Zapier, which will allow our clients to build smarter workflows that automate recurring tasks.
Connect Respaid to third-party apps with Zapier
At Respaid, we've integrated with Zapier to make debt collection even more efficient. Zapier is a user-friendly automation tool that allows you to connect Respaid with 7000+ other apps without any coding.
With this integration, you can streamline tasks like adding new receivables for collection or updating information.
How Zapier works
A connection in Zapier is called a “Zap.” Every Zap begins with a Trigger, or an event that happens in an app, which is followed by an Action — an automation Zapier performs in another app. Simply set triggers and actions to automate your workflow. The process is straightforward – test your setup, activate your Zap, and let it run in the background. It's a hassle-free way to enhance your debt collection processes and boost overall efficiency.
For example, if you want to collect unpaid invoices issued over 90 days ago, the Zap Trigger is “Each time an unpaid invoice issue date reaches 90 days…” and the Action is “Start debt collection campaign in Respaid.”

How to create a new zap
Step 1: Pick the apps you want to integrate with Respaid
In this example, we want to publish an automated notification on Slack when we receive a new collection via Respaid.
To get started, navigate to this page . Once there, select which app you want to use with Respaid. You can use the search to do this. Selecting an app from the search will take you to that app's page. Once you navigate to the Respaid page, you'll select the trigger and action you want to use.
In the following example, the trigger is every time a new successful collection via Respaid is made. When the payment is made, we will send a message on Slack to notify the team. This, in turn, will be the action.
Here's how to get started in Zapier:
After you select "Slack" you'll land on a page that outlines exactly what you've selected. On this page, select the button that says "Connect these apps".
You're well on your way to setting up your first Zap!
Step 2: Authorize Zapier to connect to your Respaid account
Now that we have a workflow in mind for Zapier to execute for us, we'll need to take a couple of steps to set up the way our custom integration will run.
First select the trigger’s event from the dropdown menu, which in this case is “New Successful Collection via Respaid” then select the blue "Continue" button.
Before Zapier is allowed to access your Respaid data, you will need to authorize it first by providing your API key. Now, you will need to connect your Respaid account to Zapier. If you haven't already, select "Connect a new account".
You'll then get a pop up window asking for your Respaid API key:
To access this token, log in to your Respaid account, and select "Zapier Integration" and copy the API key.
Paste this token into the Zapier pop-up window, and select the orange "Yes, Continue to Respaid" button:
After selecting or adding your account, select the blue "Continue" button. Zapier will then allow you to test the trigger by selecting the blue "Test trigger" button. This ensures that you're working with the appropriate data within your Respaid account:
Once you've confirmed that the correct data was pulled for your trigger, you can select the blue "Continue" button.
We can now move on to setting up our Slack action! How exciting.
Setting up your action
Step 1: Select the action of your choice
After selecting "Continue" at the end of the last step, the first screen you'll see confirms that you want to work with the selected app for your action. In this case, the app we're working with is Slack and the action event that we want is to “Send Channel Message”.
Click the blue "Continue" button once you're satisfied with the selected app and action.
Step 2: Authorize Zapier to connect to your Slack account
It's time then to connect this Zap to the relevant Slack account. If you've used Zapier in the past, select your Slack account from the dropdown menu or select the "Add a New Account" option.
When adding a new account, follow the on-screen instructions to login to your Slack account.
Step 3: Configure your action
First you’ll need to pick which channel you want the message sent to and what the message should say:
You’ll notice that when you type “/” in the “Message Text” field, a large dropdown with various Respaid attributes will be displayed. This allows you to choose what data points you’d like to display in the Slack message.
You can use the data attribute to create the custom message you want to send to Slack:
Once done editing the text, simply click on the “Continue“ button then “Test step”. Be aware that the test will actually send a message to the Slack channel you’ve chosen. This is a great way to review that your Message Text formatting is showing the data how you would like it.
You've now successfully created a zap that automatically publishes notifications on Slack and triggered by operations from Respaid
